Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe is a novel of the Europeans colonization with a tribe in Africa called the Ibo tribe. This tribe had very different, non-western, views from the Europeans, and the Europeans were determined to form their way of life, get them on their side, and take them over. They do this by imposing their religion, and their government on the tribe; and nothing - no one - was strong enough to stop their village, Umuofia, from falling apart. by Imperialism, Europeans were able to change the society of Umuofia, no matter how more than it was resisted, or how they went about it.
The Ibo destination is similar to mine, in ways, and excessively very different. Tradition was very important to Okonkwo as it was with around of the association. Order was maintained by their tradition. Various gods and goddesses who were associated with nature determined life. Ibo traditional thought was that the uncontrolled natural events could be controlled by keeping the gods and goddesses content. People knew just what was expected of them as soundly as the consequences of any action. As an example of this, Okonkwo knew when his gun killed a clan member he was to be exiled for seven years (Achebe, 124).
Whether or not the remnant was intentional was not the issue. The death of a clan member by another clan member was an insult to a goddess (Achebe, 124). Women in the Ibo culture were in any case very dominated by men and didnt expect much of a voice. However, family and elders were a huge part of the Ibo culture. My culture has more differences from this Ibo culture than it has similarities. I have grown up in a very wealthy, white, American culture. Man and women were evermore equal my mom and dad had an equal amount of enounce in the family and relationship, and I was always encouraged to have a voice.
